Leaving South Beach

Tomorrow we go back to Massachusetts.  I'll miss the lush courtyards of South Beach--fringed palms and balconies. When I think of Boston, I think of cobblestones and brick--a cooler charm. With a little luck, I 'll keep some of the slower rhythm of our Flamingo Park neighborhood, where the playgrounds are filled with children, people actually stroll, and at twilight sit in the park, reading.

  1. I have enjoyed your South Beach tales, Mim. Have a safe trip back to Boston. I stayed on Boylston St (?) once in late eighties in a tiny wee apartment, I was visiting my brother - he was studying at MIT, that was my first time in the USA. I also remember a HUGE Caesar salad!

  2. Thank you, nmj.

The portion size in American restaurants are gigantic. I don't eat red meat anymore, but once when I ordered prime rib, it came hanging over the edge of the plate; actually it was more of a platter than a plate.

  4. I've really liked the South Beach stories and photographs...I'm afraid that I've never been in love with Boston and you presented such an interesting, vibrant alternative.
